Cyber Monday (And Tuesday!) Sale!

Time to click on that wishlist!
These will be the lowest TpT prices of the year!
Almost all TpT sellers will have their products on sale.

It's time for Gingerbread!
In first grade, we LOVE making Text to Text connections between
all the different versions of the Gingerbread Man stories.

We'll start tomorrow by reading the traditional version of the Gingerbread Man and then (this is the best part!!!) having a little taste. We'll have to graph, of course! I use the Little Debbie Gingerbread Cookies for this! This is our graph from last year.

Then in the afternoon, we'll make this little
Gingerbread Glyph!
Click on the pic below to link to our TpT store for the glyph.

He's actually not little at ALL! You can always shrink the
pattern on your copier if your display area is small, though.
The kiddos LOVE how big he is!

This is how I usually display the Gingerbread Boys and Girls!
The firsties adore our gingerbread house, and it makes
an awesome backdrop for holiday pics!

These make me happy!
Can you smell the gingerbread?

Scarecrow Fun

We had the best time during our scarecrow unit!!

We made our own scarecrow book. They named
their scarecrow and wrote about what he liked and
    what he/she didn't like!

After we finished with our unit- we ended it with a Scarecrow Day. I read the book Barn Dance to start it off. We invited our parents for snacks and songs. We even did a little Square dancing!!!  All the kids dressed up as scarecrows! They were so stinkin' cute!!

We munched on crow cookies, haystacks, and
    Scarecrow crunch!!!

The parents loved it!!

We displayed the books in the hall. I had color copies made at Staples, on regular paper, to add to the display!!
Much cheaper than printing 5x7's!!!

You can click on the pic below to go to our TpT store
and purchase the patterns for this Scarecrow cutie!
Happy Fall!

Monkey Cupcake Love

We SURVIVED the first week of school!
That calls for a celebration, right???
Well, if you are in Mrs. Smith's Safari Class
then you celebrate with...
MONKEY CUPCAKES!

It's a great time to practice following directions.
I baked and iced the cupcakes the night before,
and then each first grader assembled the
monkey decorations themselves.

Here's all you'll need for these cute little guys:
Cake Mix (I used yellow)
Chocolate Icing
Vanilla Wafers (for face)
Mini Vanilla Wafers (for ears)
Eye Candy Decorations
Red Gel Icing (for mouth)
Black Gel Icing (for nose)

They were a HUGE hit with the students and
fit perfectly with our Safari theme!

I also found these adorable monkey paper plates to serve
them on at Dollar Tree
(only a $1 for a dozen).

Have you seen our Lion Glyph?

Painted accent fruniture

Adding painted pieces of furniture to your classroom and gives it a special touch!
I found this bench at TJ Max!  Just added the black and red!! (And bows)

I painted this stool for my friend Deedee.

Kids always love to look at themselves in a       mirror- so I always have one in my room. Painting
around them adds some fun to it!

Reading benching are easy to accent with
                          some fun paint!

I found this old trunk and had to have it! I painted it black and added the alphabet and
Numbers. This is where we keep our rest mats!!!
